Starts Ending 02/24/2018 4:30 AM PDT Description Description Shipping Terms Two Pairs of Early Gold Sleeve Buttons, America, 18th/early 19th century, a pair of octagonal buttons with engraved floral design on the front, the backs marked with goldsmith's mark "DB" in a sunken cartouche for Daniel Boyer and engraved "E" and "T"; the second pair oval with engraved monogram "WD," the backs marked with goldsmith's mark "T.W" in a sunken cartouche, dia. to 1/2 in. Literature: The octagonal buttons are illustrated in Philip H. Hammerslough American Silver, Vol. III (Hartford, Connecticut, 1965), p. 146. Exhibitions: The octagonal buttons were featured in the American Gold exhibition at Yale in 1963 (catalog no. 73). Note: The octagonal buttons were made by Boston goldsmith Daniel Boyer for Colonel Elizur Talcott (1709-1797) of Connecticut.
